Pesticides: constituent meeting of new parliamentary committee

The Special Committee on the Union's Authorisation Procedure for Pesticides (PEST) will hold its constituent meeting on 12.03.18 in Strasbourg, following the recent election of its 30 members. The Committee will elect its Chair and Vice-Chairs for a term of nine months. Parliament had decided to establish this special committee following concerns regarding the risks related to glyphosate.




Commission Work Programme and priorities: Structured Dialogue

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will hold a Structured Dialogue with European Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmerman on 12.03.08 in Strasbourg. The debate will focus on the implementation of the Commission's Work Programme for 2017 and its priorities for 2018. The discussions are also expected to touch upon the situation of the rule of law in Poland, Malta and Slovakia.




Strengthening cooperation with the Council of Europe: committee debate

The Committee on Foreign Affairs will meet Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland, on 12.03.18, to look into, amongst others, ways of continuing to strengthen the cooperation between Parliament and the Council of Europe. The discussion is also expected to touch upon the situation in Eastern Ukraine and the Western Balkans, and Mr Jagland's recent visit to Turkey.




European Medicines Agency location: committee vote

The Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will vote on the new location of the seat of the European Medicines Agency, on 12.03.18. This relocation is a consequence of the UK's withdrawal from the EU. Amsterdam was selected as the Agency's new seat the 27 Member States, in November 2017. The Agency is responsible for the scientific evaluation, supervision and safety monitoring of medicines in the EU.




Gender equality in EU trade agreements: plenary debate and vote

The joint non-legislative report on gender equality in EU trade agreements, tabled by the Committee on International Trade and the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, will be discussed on 12.03.18, after which it will be voted by the entire Parliament. The report calls for, amongst others, better support to women-led micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises and better use of the trade and sustainable development chapters to promote and uphold gender equality.
