Handel, the former Georgia secretary of state, beat Democrat Jon Ossoff in the special election runoff in Georgia's 6th District for the seat left open by former GOP congressman Tom Price, CNN and NBC reported late Tuesday. In holding off Ossoff, who raised a record-breaking $23 million in the most expensive congressional race in history, Handel notches a key win for Republicans looking to hang on to House seats and bolster their prospects ahead of next year's midterm elections.
