DLR, JAXA and AIST sign cooperation in energy research - Electricity from heat and better batteries for space


The German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum fuer Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR), the Japanese space agency, JAXA, and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Japan (AIST) signed two cooperation agreements on 21 September 2017 in Tokyo. The research institutes will collaborate in future on the development of high-performance and durable batteries for space missions. The scientists will also conduct research to develop thermoelectric generators, as well as standards to measure the efficiency of their performance.
