29-11-2017 01:03 PM CET ![]() During the 28 November meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, a workshop was held on 'The implications of Brexit on the Irish border'. This workshop, organised by Policy Department for Citizens' Rights and Constitutional Affairs, featured four experts presenting three research papers. Dr. David PHINNEMORE, Professor of European Politics; Dean of Education (Queen's University Belfast); Visiting Professor (College of Europe, Bruges); and Dr. Katy HAYWARD Reader in Sociology (Queen's University Belfast); Senior Research Fellow (Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice) presented the paper on 'UK Withdrawal ('Brexit') and the Good Friday Agreement'. Dr. Lars KARLSSON, President of KGH Border Services; Former Director of World Customs Organization; Deputy Director General of Swedish Customs presented the research paper on 'Smart Border 2.0 - Avoiding a hard border on the island of Ireland for Customs control and the free movement of persons'.
