BREAKING: Republicans say they have a tax-cut deal but Democrats want to stall until Doug Jones arrives

  Republicans announced Wednesday that they have worked out a final deal between House and Senate leaders on a sweeping tax-cut bill that both chambers can pass. The bills the two chambers had approved had a raft of differences, ranging from what the new tax rates would be to when they would go into effect. The deal clears the way for Congress to pass the bill before Christmas as promised, but Democrats are looking for any way to slow it down until Alabama Democrat Doug Jones, elected Tuesday to replace GOP Sen. Luther Strange, can be sworn in.
