Federal Judge Kozinski retires as sexual misconduct inquiry launched

Amid an onslaught of sexual misconduct allegations from at least 15 women, Judge Alex Kozinski of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco abruptly announced his retirement Monday from the bench effective immediately. Kozinski, 67, appointed to the federal court in 1985 by President Ronald Reagan, said in a statement that he "had a broad sense of humor and a candid way of speaking to both male and female law clerks alike. In doing so, I may not have been mindful enough of the special challenges and pressures that women face in the workplace.
