11-01-2018 12:29 PM CET At their meeting of 8 January 2018, Members of the Special Committee on Terrorism held two exchanges of views dedicated to both fundamental rights and human rights. The Director of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), Mr Michael O'Flaherty, was the first person to address the Committee. This debate was followed by an exchange of views with Mr Jacques Toubon, Défenseur des Droits in France. The discussions with Mr O'Flaherty and Mr Toubon respectively focused on the aspects of fully respecting fundamental rights in policies concerning the fight against terrorism. The TERR Committee agreed that respect for fundamental rights will be a horizontal priority in all topics to be addressed by the Committee within its work.
