Interoperability package, visas: committee debates

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will look into the Commission's proposed Interoperability Package of December 2017, together with Security Union Commissioner Julian King. The Committee will also discuss the most recent Commission report on the situation of non-reciprocity with certain third countries in the area of visa policy, and the First Report under the Visa Suspension Mechanism. The meeting will take place on 15.01.18 in Strasbourg.

The non-legislative report on the implementation of the Youth Employment Initiative (YEI) in the Member States will be discussed by the European Parliament during its plenary sitting of 17.01.18 and voted on 18.01.18. The report as tabled by the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs notes that the YEI has led to youth unemployment becoming a shared EU policy priority. Nevertheless, tackling youth unemployment remains a challenge in a number of Member States.

The European Parliament will discuss and vote the report on the implementation of the Professional Qualifications Directive and the need for reform in professional services, during its plenary sitting of 18.01.18. The report as adopted by the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection focuses on recommendations to ensure transparent, non-discriminatory and proportionate regulation of professions, while ensuring high quality of the service provided.
