Highlights - Future of the CAP: exchange of views with the CoR and the EESC - Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development

The meeting on 11 January saw MEPs discussing the future of CAP with guests from the Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) respectively. For the agenda point with the CoR, rapporteur Guillaume Cros (France/PES) presented an Opinion on "The CAP after 2020", adopted in 2017. Following on, EESC rapporteur John Bryan (Ireland - Group III - Various interests), presented the Opinion on "A possible reshaping of the CAP".

Mairead McGuinness (PPE, IE) reported back to the AGRI Members on her participation in the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference, held in Buenos Aires in mid-December, where she represented the AGRI Committee as part of the EP delegation. In parallel to the WTO event, the EU and MercoSur held further talks in Buenos Aires on their free trade agreement, expected to be concluded soon.
