Workshop Public Health
The third EU Health Programme (2014-2020) is relatively minor in terms of magnitude, but it has a significant impact on the work done by public health practitioners across the EU. It achieves certain, albeit modest, global resonance that is important for its recognition. The programme is instrumental in creating and maintaining a strong professional public health community at European level that finds it natural to exchange knowledge and experience.

The programme has four overarching objectives. It seeks to:

  1. Promote health, prevent diseases and foster supportive environments for healthy lifestylestaking into account the 'health in all policies' principle,
  2. Protect EU citizens from serious cross-border health threats,
  3. Contribute to innovative, efficient and sustainable health systems,
  4. Facilitate access to better, sustainable and safer healthcare for EU citizens.

Relocation of European Medicines Agency (EMA) logo
On Thursday 22 February the ENVI Committee sends a fact-finding mission to Amsterdam, to which the EMA is to be relocated after Brexit. The delegation will be led by the rapporteur on the relocation, Giovanni La Via (EPP, IT), and will visit the temporary location and the future headquarters for the EMA.

MEPs want to obtain up-to-date information on the state of play of the double transfer process and ascertain that it is proceeding "as planned and with no interruption". Their findings will provide input to the discussion on the relocation legislative proposal in ENVI.
