The 65 detailed statistical tables in this report present 2014 data on domestic and global research and development expenditures and the R&D workforce, intellectual property, technology transfer, and innovation activities for companies operating in the United States. These data were collected by the Business R&D Innovation Survey (BRDIS), conducted annually by the U.S. Census Bureau for the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics within the National Science Foundation. BRDIS findings are used by government agencies, corporations, research organizations, and academics to assess trends in the performance and funding of R&D.
