The aim of the hearing is to discuss the specific findings of the European Ombudsman's inquiry into the transparency of the legislative process of national governments in the Council of Ministers, but also more general issues relating to the openness of the EU institutions. The European Ombudsman has also recently asked for the former European Commission President José Manuel Barroso's appointment at investment bank Goldman Sachs to be reassessed by the EU executive's own Ethics Committee. It will also listen to presentation and discuss the issues related to the withdrawal agreement with Dr Helena Raulus, head of the Joint Office of UK Law Societies in Brussels.
