Members of AFCO committee will debate about the transparency in the EU institutions during a public hearing with EU Ombudsman Emily O'Reilly on Wednesday, 21 March.

The aim of the hearing is to discuss the specific findings of the European Ombudsman's inquiry into the transparency of the legislative process of national governments in the Council of Ministers, but also more general issues relating to the openness of the EU institutions. The European Ombudsman has also recently asked for the former European Commission President José Manuel Barroso's appointment at investment bank Goldman Sachs to be reassessed by the EU executive's own Ethics Committee.
