Highlights - International activities on animal welfare and competitiveness of EU farmers - Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development 19-03-2018 04:10 PM CET A representative of DG SANTE will present to AGRI Members its recent report on the impact of international animal welfare activities on the competitiveness of European livestock producers. The issue is a crucial one for EU farmers, since it is important to disseminate the EU's animal welfare rules internationally, notably among close trading partners, in order to ensure a level playing field on the market. Source : © European Union, 2018 - EP Highlights - Delegated acts linked to the agricultural part of the Omnibus regulation - Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development 19-03-2018 04:10 PM CET In January 2018 the agricultural part of the "Omnibus" regulation entered into force with the aim of further simplifying the CAP to the benefit of both farmers and national authorities. It includes changes applicable to all four of the basic policy regulations. In that context, the Commission will present a set of upcoming or recently adopted delegated acts following on from the new CAP basic acts. Source : © European Union, 2018 - EP Highlights - Exchange of views on the Brazilian food safety system - Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development 19-03-2018 04:10 PM CET A Commission representative from DG SANTE will present Members with information on the current situation of the Brazilian food safety system. This presentation takes place in the context of the forthcoming visit of an AGRI delegation to Brazil on 2-6 April. In addition to issues related to public health, Members are concerned with ensuring a level playing field between EU and Brazilian operators as regards food safety. Source : © European Union, 2018 - EP Highlights - Joint hearing: EU Agriculture policy and developing countries - 27 February - Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development 19-03-2018 04:10 PM CET The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development and the Committee on Development jointly held a meeting to discuss the impacts of the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) on developing countries, and their food and agriculture systems in particular. Among the speakers were renowned experts, such as Olivier De Schutter, an African milk farmer as well as the EU Commissioner for Agriculture Phil Hogan.
