The Committee on Transport and Tourism will vote on the amendments tabled to the draft legislative report on defending EU air carriers against unfair practices of some third countries. The Commission's proposal amending the existing legislation intends to set clear rules for the investigation and adoption of redress measures, and to find a way to involve the European Parliament in the procedure. The meeting will take place on 20.03.18.




Natural gas, EU business statistics, Ecodesign: committee votes

The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy will vote on the draft report on common rules for the internal market in natural gas on 21.03.18. The aim of the proposal is to extend existing common rules to gas pipelines from third countries. The Committee will also vote on the proposed legislation regarding European business statistics. The opinion on the implementation of the Ecodesign Directive will be voted on the same day.




European services e-card: vote in committee

The Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection will vote on its legislative report on the Commission proposal establishing a European Services e-card and the related administrative facilities, on 21.03.18. It will also vote on its related report setting the legal and operation framework of the European services e-card. The overall aim is to reduce administrative complexity for service providers that want to expand their activities to other Member States.

The Committee on Employment and Social Protection will look into the amendments tabled to the draft report regarding the Commission's proposal on revising the guidelines for the employment policies of the Member States, thereby aligning them with the principles of the European pillar of social rights. The aim is to improve Europe's competitiveness, making it a better place to invest, create jobs and foster social cohesion. The meeting will take place on 21.03.18.




European Data Protection Supervisor: committee debate on 2017 Annual Report

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will meet European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), Giovanni Buttarelli, to go over the EDPS 2017 Annual Report. This is the fourth annual report presented by the holders of the current mandate of the EDPS, which is the EU's independent data protection authority. The meeting will take place on 20.03.18.




Union Civil Protection Mechanism: committee debate

The Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will discuss the legislative report on a Union Civil Protection Mechanism, on 20.03.18. The proposed legislation aims for the EU to acquire its own operational capacities and set up arrangements for ensuring rapid access to them. This dedicated reserve of assets (RescEU) would help cover existing gaps at national level. The proposal also seeks to strengthen the link between risk assessments identification and risk management planning.
