Breaking: Defense Secretary Jim Mattis says allied airstrikes on Syria targeted facilities where chemical weapons were created, stored

  Pentagon officials said Friday night that U.S., U.K. and French forces conducted multiple airstrikes on Syrian facilities that dictator Bashar Assad's regime used for research, production and storage of chemical weapons. Mattis said that Assad's use of chemical weapons was "inexcusable" and that the strike "sent a strong message" to deter future chemical weapon use.
