Highlights - Committee mission to UGANDA 7-11 May - Committee on Development
04-05-2018 03:12 PM CEST
7 to 11 May, Development Committee Chair Linda McAvan and four other Members will visit Uganda to gather first hand information on Uganda's response to the arrival of more than one million South Sudanese refugees and the implementation of EU emergency aid and development programmes. MEPs will visit EU-funded projects, meet with refugees, host communities, NGOs and donors along with parliamentarians, state officials and Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda. Uganda stands out in the way it accommodates refugees from neighbouring countries by providing them with livelihood opportunities, but the large numbers arriving over the last few year have stretched its capacities.
