Financial Crimes Special Committee: constituent meeting

Parliament's new Special Committee on Financial Crimes, Tax Evasion and Tax Avoidance (TAXE 3) will hold its constituent meeting on 22.03.18 in order to elect its Chair and Vice-Chairs, making up its bureau. The Special Committee was set up to build on and complement the work carried out by the TAXE 1 and TAXE 2 special committees, and the PANA inquiry committee. It is composed of 45 members and has 12-month mandate.




Natural gas, EU business statistics, Ecodesign: committee votes

The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy will vote on the draft report on common rules for the internal market in natural gas on 21.03.18. The aim of the proposal is to extend existing common rules to gas pipelines from third countries. The Committee will also vote on the proposed legislation regarding European business statistics. The opinion on the implementation of the Ecodesign Directive will be voted on the same day.




European services e-card: vote in committee

The Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection will vote on its legislative report on the Commission proposal establishing a European Services e-card and the related administrative facilities, on 21.03.18. It will also vote on its related report setting the legal and operation framework of the European services e-card. The overall aim is to reduce administrative complexity for service providers that want to expand their activities to other Member States.

The Committee on Employment and Social Protection will look into the amendments tabled to the draft report regarding the Commission's proposal on revising the guidelines for the employment policies of the Member States, thereby aligning them with the principles of the European pillar of social rights. The aim is to improve Europe's competitiveness, making it a better place to invest, create jobs and foster social cohesion. The meeting will take place on 21.03.18.




Impact of endocrine disruptors on public health: public hearing

The Committee on Petitions and the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will hold a public hearing with experts, regarding the impact of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) on public health and the environment. The hearing will take place on 22.03.18 following a high number of petitions received on this issue. The discussions will focus on the specificities of the EU regulatory approval process for EDCs, and whether it could be conceived differently in the future.




Building capacities for resilience against terrorism within the EU: hearing

TERR Public Hearing
The Committee on Terrorism will hold a hearing on building capacities for resilience, with the participation of French journalist and writer Nicolas Hénin, who is a former ISIS hostage in Syria and President of the NGO "Action Resilience". The issue of developing and fostering civil society resilience against radicalisation and terrorism, while safeguarding public liberties and fundamental rights will be looked into together with other experts. The meeting will take place on 22.03.18.
