Study - Energy and the MFF - PE 614.223 - Committee on Industry, Research and Energy 15-02-2018 12:00 AM CET This study was prepared at the request of the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE). It provides a summary of the EU's energy and climate targets and goals and estimates of additional investments in the energy sector required to achieve these. This is followed by a description of the current levels of energy investments and the contribution that EU programmes and financial instruments make to them. The study concludes with a review of the gaps between current funding and the levels required to meet the targets and goals as well as some recommendations on what the EU could do to maximise the value of its future contributions.
