Highlights - Stuctured dialogues with Commissioners Bieńkowska and Gabriel - Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection

The IMCO Committee will hold a Structured Dialogue with Commissioner Commissioner Bieńkowska (responsible for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs) on 21.02.18 at 15.00. The debate is expected to look into the overall implementation of the Single Market Strategy (Goods package, SMIT, Single Digital Gateway, ...). Another Structured Dialogue will be held with Commissioner Gabriel (responsible for Communications Networks, Content and Technology) on 22.02.18 at 11.15

focusing on the overall implementation of the Digital Single Market, including in particular upcoming initiatives on online platforms and ongoing negotiations on free flow of data and cybersecurity.

Optical fiber
The purpose of the workshop is to give Members the chance to explore in greater depth the various elements of the Commission's proposed regulation (2017/0228(COD)) with academics, regulators and stakeholders, and to support the decision-making process in Parliament.

The objective of the workshop is to give a chance to Members to interact with academics, regulators and stakeholders on this topic which touches upon a number of different technical aspects. It will be an opportunity to receive feedback on the Commission's initiatives, as well as to obtain factual information from experts in the field of public procurement about how the legal and policy framework works in the Union, and whether the Commission's plans address sufficiently the challenges ahead.

The results of the workshop would feed into the own-initiative report.
