Hearings - The Goods Package - 21-03-2018 - Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection 22-03-2018 12:44 PM CET The hearing will be organised in 5 panel discussions with invited experts to discuss the recently adopted Goods Package: Proposal for a Regulation on the Mutual Recognition of Goods and Proposal for a Regulation on Compliance and Enforcement. The first panel will exchange views on Member States' experiences with the administration of the current goods framework, i.e. the Mutual Recognition Regulation and the Market Surveillance Regulation of 2008. The second panel will provide insight into the practical challenges with products entering EU from third countries. The third panel will present the new proposed problem solving procedure as well as explain more about the current SOLVIT mechanism. The fourth and fifth panels will focus on the business experience and shine light on the impact on consumers. However it didn't go as far as proposing the rejection to plenary by adopting a report. In total, 260 amendments were tabled on the COM proposal for Directive and 180 amendments on the COM proposal for regulation.
