red blood cells deforming as they flow through another microvascular network geometry

Rutgers University researchers used state-of-the-art computing resources at the Texas Advanced Computing Center to stimulate and study red blood cells following in realistic microvascular networks. While the behavior of blood cells flowing within single, straight vessels is well-known, less is known about the individual cellular-scale events and blood behavior in microvascular networks.
