Highlights - Safeguarding competition in air transport - vote - Committee on Transport and Tourism 22-03-2018 11:08 AM CET The Committee adopted Mr Pieper's report on a regulation (EC) No 868/2004 intended to defend the Union air carriers against unfair practices of some third countries. The new amended proposal intends to set clear rules for the investigation and adoption of redressive measures and to find a way to involve the European Parliament in the procedure. Mr Pieper managed to find a dozen of compromises based on over 300 amendments tabled in TRAN and ECON committees. The vote should define whether notions such as Union interest and threat of injury should be added to the proposal and decide on crucial issues like conditions to open investigations, deadlines and competence to impose redressive measures. The TRAN committee voted on the report on 20 March 2018 at 9h15 in the József Antall building, room JAN 4Q1, and it was webstreamed. Source : © European Union, 2018 - EP
